I agree with you that whomever commits such a crime is not a “terrifying monster”, but whatever their creed or race, they have to be submitted to forced seclusion “in the name of the Law…”.
“M” is a great movie, and as a black & white photographer, I found the scene in which Lore´s character enters the basement where the outlaws were convened, one of the most beautiful of the history of the cinema.

and to the safety of minority groups (eg. Jews)
When an elected official says the equivalent of ” if the president does it then it is legal” we are in danger.
As R. Bolt has Thomas More say …I would give the Devil himself the benefit of law – for my own safety’s sake.

We saw some complete films and some segments, and were especially intrigued by a not-quite-ready composite film that traces anti-Semitism in film from an early date. Although I expected to be bored with familiar stuff, I was NOT.
