One of the difficulties is that we have no core structure, no way to examine the effect of our efforts – or lack of effort — on the human stage.

What is a Jew? No one can answer that one, any more than Who is a Jew? Which brings us back to the question of individual responsibility and personal liability. There is not likely to be a time when we can speak as one, as a Jewish body; therefore introspection is required.
