Rabbi,

I so enjoy reading your blog here. This was a wonderful post. We've been reading Hafez, via the Daniel Ledinsky translation, since the summer, and it actually changed our life. An Iranian friend recited one in Farsi and did line by line translation for us too. This poetry makes me want to learn Farsi and know Iranians, who I feel connected to because they love the work too. We're trying to plan a trip to Iran, and hope to visit the Jews and the poetry lovers, among other things. I read your blog for the vicarious thrills. Thanks!

Rabbi, I was born in Iran and lived a very sheltered life there until the age of 11, when my family & I moved to Canada. I've always wanted to go back and see my people and my land through an adult's eyes. Your journey through Iran is inspiring to me. I'm pretty envious actually, since I've never seen the Tomb of our Poets, not Persepolis...
I'm glad you seemed to enjoy your time there.
I really believe that if more people truly wanted to learn about each other's cultures, there would be little conflict in this world.
Thank you for your post and know that I'll be reading up on your future adventures.

Wow, I'm trying to imagine what our country might be like if we celebrated heroes of letters the same way we do heroes of sports. Thanks for making this important journey and for opening our eyes to this culture.
