You may have noted that my posts on Shalom Rav have gotten fewer and more far between of late. There are many reasons for this, but the long and short of it is that I’ve decided to take a brief hiatus from my Shalom Rav postings – at least until after the Jewish High Holidays.
But don’t fret – in the remote possibility that you absolutely need to read my writing on a regular basis, you should know that I’m still posting daily poetry on my other blog, Yedid Nefesh (yes, my “Psalm a Day” project is still going strong!) So please feel free to check in and, as always, to add your thoughts and comments.

Shalom Rav 
This is not good news for the Jewish people. It is especially bad news for rabbis. I, for example, went nearly a year without posting on my blog. Of course, I tend to write much longer entries than your Shalom Rav posts. On the other hand, yours show evidence of thought. Wrongheaded, yes, but thought. My suggestion is that this year we all tell our congregants, “Look—I speak twice a week, on Friday night and Saturday mornings. Most of you come twice a year. Copies of my 104 talks are in the lobby. Go pick one or two and read them. That’s the sermon this year. While you’re doing that, I am going to the facilities. Anyone want some seltzer?” (Not on Yom Kippur, of course, when only flat seltzer can be consumed, our sages having rule that drinking flat seltzer was worse that being thirsty.)
Rather than pray for peace in the Middle East, which just ain’t happening, at least not this year, could all y’all pray that I get an android assistant rabbi? Not one of those damn Android phones—I use an iPhone made by the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. I mean a real, Mr. Data android. ‘Preciate all y’alls help.
Maybe, you will return to Zionism after your sabbatical.

The paranoid part of me worries that someone is doing a “Judge Goldstone” on you. But thankfully I am sure that this is just some well deserved R&R from which you will return with fresh thoughts, insights and energy. Looking forward to your return to Shalom Rav in the fall, perhaps with your holiday sermons?

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT A JEWISH RABBI COULD BE SO ANTI ISRAEL and the Jewish people.
The hunger strike in California by prisoners is a total joke… how about those they stabbed, raped, killed, robbed and terrorized?
Let them starve if you have done the crime then you do the time.
May you return in reality … a strong Israel is a necessity for the continuation of the Jewish people.
The Palestinians must accept the state of Israel and avow to never create terrorism and to teach their children peace and not war.
